Master of Arts in Leadership Studies

The Master of Arts in Leadership Studies is a 59-credit hour program that equips the learner with theory, critical-thinking and decision-making skills, and the ability to strategically lead and develop teams and organizations, whether business, government, church, NGO, or community-based. Course content integrates theory with the development of skills and character, to prepare leaders to serve as transformational agents in alignment with biblical values and priorities, in a variety of contexts.

The goal of this program is to produce visionary, ethical and skilled strategic leaders who bring about positive development in all strata of society.  These are leaders who are able to think critically, plan strategically, and mobilize and motivate others toward the actualization of a preferred future.

Program Overview

The Master of Arts in Leadership Studies consists of 59 Credit Hours, inclusive of core and general requirements, electives and thesis contributing to the field of leadership:

  • Core Leadership Program requirements           32 Credit Hours
  • Leadership Track requirements                         11 Credit Hours
  • Electives                                                              4 Credit Hours
  • Research and Writing, including Thesis            12 Credit Hours

Admission Requirements for the Program

To be accepted into the Master of Arts in Leadership Studies, a student must:

  1. Have an earned recognized 1st degree with at least upper 2nd class honors from an accredited university or college or with a minimum grade point average (G.P.A.) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The applicant admitted with a G. P. A of 2.5 will be expected to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the 1st year of the Masters program in order to continue with their 2nd year of study.
  2. Have a 2nd class honors lower division to be considered for admission if he/she has at least 2 years experience in a related field, and if accepted, he/she will be placed under academic probation during the 1st semester of study.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in the English Language, or by scoring a ‘B’ in an English Proficiency Test or its equivalent. The student who scores less than a ‘B’ may be admitted but he/she will be required to undertake a Remedial English Course during his/her 1st  The student must complete the course with a passing grade or will need to retake the course until he/she receives a passing grade in order to graduate.
